Learn to write and illustrate a picture book from concept to publisher submission. Over five weeks, you'll discover your visual style, develop compelling characters, experiment with picture book writing, create storyboards, and learn how to build a complete dummy book ready to pitch to publishers.
This masterclass welcomes adults at any level. Classes are tailored to your experience, whether you're starting from scratch or refining existing skills. Small group of 15 participants.*

COURSE CONTENT
Week 1: Exploring Your Visual Language
Week 2: Character Design and World Building
Week 3: Writing for Children's Books
Week 4: Storyboarding, Book Cover Design and Dummy Books
Week 5: The Publishing Industry Insights
Location: Zoom online ( a LIVE 1 hour presentation, followed by up to 30 minutes Q+A)

Experience: No experience necessary. This course is suitable for beginners.
Extras: You will also receive a very useful reading list, podcast recommendations, a competition list, a copy of the presentation slides and access to video recordings of the presentations that you can watch back if you can’t make an evening. After purchasing this course, on the day of our first class you will receive an email with a zoom link.

Are you stuck on character development? Unsure how to pace your story visually? Need a critical eye on your dummy book before submission? Picture book mentoring works best when you have a draft or detailed concept to work with.
Price:
€275 – Manuscript and materials reviewed in advance, 300 word written report, followed by 1.5 hour one-to-one meeting

Meetings can be one-off or split into multiple shorter sessions totalling 1.5 hours
